Douglas Rushkoff presents a new way to look at our lives and our contribution to our communities. Why are we so disconnected with each other? Why are we disconnected within ourselves?
We are at a very interesting (yet, scary) time in human history. Is there something greater to be learned from the current state of affairs?
Well it has been quite a journey to get here with this inaugural post. Six months ago, I was sitting in my cubicle at my very comfortable and well paid job, wondering what on earth am I doing here? This is not who I am. This is not what I was put on this Earth to do, either. I am not an IT Professional. I am a Spiritual Counselor.
Sitting in my stall – I mean cubicle – did not allow me to converse with my co-workers nor did if feed my soul. So, I left. I left the smoothly paved superhighway of IT and started down the craggy path less traveled. It has been and will be work but my spirit Self is breathing free. And it is a labor of love. I enjoy this with single minded persistence and faith – faith in me and in the All.
Every night I sit out in my backyard and watch the moon and stars and listen to the wind. It is as if the wind blows away my fear and leaves me ready to fill another day with steps toward my goal.
I must listen to my life and try to understand what it is truly about…or my life will never represent anything real in the world, no matter how earnest my intentions. - Parker Palmer “Let Your Life Speak”
